BARLEY VARIETIES WE EXPORT

In India, numerous types of barley are cultivated. The majority of these types, such as Azad, Ratna, Vijaya, etc., are included in the importation of barley from India. The majority of these barley types are exported from India to the rest of the world. The most important types of barley exported from India are:

AZAD (K.125)

In general, the Azad variety is excellent for growing in eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal. This cultivar of barley is reportedly quite resistant to the yellow rust disease. K.125 is useful as both feed and grain. In general, the Azad variety develops between 115 and 120 days. It has the capacity to produce between 35 and 38 quintals of grain per hectare when watered.

RATNA

The Ratna variety of barley was released for areas of eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal that are irrigated by rainfall. This cultivar is reportedly particularly tolerant of alkaline and salty soils. Even under difficult environmental circumstances, Ratna reportedly matures within 125 to 130 days and produces a respectable yield. This variety’s plants have excellent tillering capacity.

VIJAYA

The Vijaya variety has been introduced to the rainfed districts of western Uttar Pradesh, I. Delhi, and Madhya Pradesh. It reaches maturity about 120-125 days. The plants of the Vijaya variety of barley are shorter than those of other types. This cultivar has a potential yield of 30-35 quintals per hectare of grain.

RS-6

The RS-6 barley variety, developed in Rajasthan, is excellent for growth under both rainfed and irrigated conditions. This cultivar is typically suggested for use in central and eastern Rajasthan. It matures in approximately 130 to 135 days and has a potential yield of 35 to 40 quintals per hectare.

RANJIT (DL- 70)

Only in Punjab is the six-row, heavy tillering cultivar of barley known as Ranjit or DL-70 recommended for commercial production. This cultivar is ideal for cultivation in irrigated environments. It has a potential yield of 30-35 quintals per hectare of grains.

C- L64

Barley variety C-164 is a tall, six-row cultivar with compact ears and lengthy awns. This grain is often robust, brilliant, and amber. According to reports, C-14 is resistant to yellow rust. It is more ideal for cultivation under irrigated settings due to its firm straw. This cultivar produces between 30 and 32 quintals of grain per hectare.

LSB-2

The LSB barley cultivar is a six-row naked kind. It is a type suitable for growing in higher altitudes, such as Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. This variety may produce 25-30 quintals of grain per hectare and matures in approximately 145-150 days.
